So far, the conference has been very interesting. I’ll write up more substantial posts laster, but the first keynote about Domain Specific Languages really has my mind racing. Since Ruby is a language that is well suited to creating DSLs, I’m even more interested in getting a test development server running when I get back to try out some ideas.
I see the conference theme (or one of them) so far to be DSLs. Ruby is a popular language for creating internal DSLs, but C# 3.0 is also including more functional programming features that could be applicable to DSL construction and Microsoft already produces Code Factories for different products that I gather from the keynote can assist in DSL creation.
The next keynote is Bruce Eckel and appears to be all about dynamic languages. Since I like Bruce Eckel’s stuff and I love dynamic languages, I’m looking forward to it. It should start in a few minutes.
Time to get my notebook out.
