The Calm Before the Storm?

Students are outside enjoying the beautiful Spring day, but it was apparent to me this morning that something is going on today. The R2 train was more packed than usual. If this is a trend, it is going to really mess up my morning commute.

SEPTA says they are going to raise rates and cut service by 20% in July if they don’t get some money from the State. I remember when the bus and subway system was shutdown during the last strike and there was a HUGE surge in ridership on the regional rail line. I had to wait until about 9PM to catch a train home in the evening and it was wall-to-wall people, even then, with lines of waiting passengers extending all the way down into the Amtrak section of 30th Street Station during peak hours.
