I just bought a new black Macbook to replace my aging 12-inch iBook. I also bought a black ProTouch keyboard cover. It looks great and keeps gunk from getting all over my keyboard. But, I just noticed that the F-Keys’ icons on the ProTouch cover are different from those on my actual Macbook keyboard. For instance, F3-F5 on the ProTouch are for volume, but these keys are F10-F12 on the actual keyboard. I didn’t pay attention to the key layouts on the previous revisions of the Macbook. I wonder if Apple just changed the layout with this most recent revision?

Yea i noticed the same thing. I really miss the F11 show desktop. I know i can change it but then the volume will need the fn key to work. Maybe i’ll get some keys from the rev1 or 2 macbook and put them in, then remap the keys.
Guys, you are correct. Apple has f-ed up the keyboard on the newest Macbooks. It started with iLife 08, specifically iMovie, the Leopard (lots of dumb changes for the sake of change) and now, the keyboard. They even dropped the Apple from the command key. What up wit dat??!!!
I, too, am a bit nostalgic for the Apple key.
Where can i get an L shaped return key, keyboard cover for my new macbook?
Kendon: The ProTouch cover that is linked in this post, at least when I bought it, had an L-shaped return key on it.
